REVIEWS / READERS AND PUBLISHERS COMMENTS
The author’s attempt to present the very complex and difficult topic of the purpose of life on earth, in a more simplified and uncluttered way, seems to be successful, because of his tongue in cheek writing style. The book also has caricature illustrations to illustrate some of the concepts in a visual manner. He makes the point at many occasions that he does not want to be absolute and dogmatic with his views, but does provide his arguments in a very challenging way. If anything, this book does challenge the reader to rethink on a very deep and fundamental level of conceptualisation. It is interesting that he makes use of a lot of metaphor to bring some of his ideas across. He uses for instance; the metaphor of Planet Earth being a school. He then compares the classroom and the play field as the two opposites to represent the paradox of having to learn and wanting to play. He also refers to death as only a door and then plays with the words "live" and "evil" as more appropriate opposites than life and death. At times, he uses acronyms, like "fear" spelling "false evidence appearing real" to bring ideas across. He also spends some time to explain the mechanisms of the trance experience and hypnotherapy as an instrument to get access to the subconscious world of mind/body interaction and the possible connection with the soul.

The author succeeded in giving the concept of paradox prominence with caricature of Sir Paradox, presented as the magician, or trickster, who features in many of the illustrations. The paradox is explained as: "A paradox is when you have to experience the opposite of what you want to experience in order to know what you really want to experience".

It is interesting that he mentioned in his preface, that the book should be read more than once to allow concepts to crystallise. It is interesting, because it seems natural to want to re-read some of the statements to allow the flow of thought to sink in. The flow of thought through the different topics seems to happen at quite an intense pace, but the central theme of the paradox stays as the central message.
